Wonderful post! I've reread, with a few tears, but am thankful you didn't adopt a hawk but did venture into nature, far and wide, from Kenya to the New Jersey Pine Lands. How nourishing is Nature!
That was a wonderful read, Hannah. Very poetic, in the best of ways. And your take on the CCC camp focused on all the stuff I didn't, so these fit together perfectly. The beer was Swamp Donkey, and I had Hop Devil. Both perfect for the Pines, no? I meant to go for a bike ride at Batsto yesterday but it rained, so I'll have to head there next weekend to ride and try a Piney Paté burger with fried liverwurst on it. Or at least a liverwurst and onion sandwich! My grandmother made them, and I used to make one now and then in her memory, but it's been ages.

With love, from your Mom
Thanks Mom. 💗
(I still kinda wish I had a hawk? But yeah, probably better not. 😁)
Great post! ‘Or I assume that’s why. I don’t know, I’m not a meteorologist.’ 😆
Thanks! 💗
And thanks also for your correction -- you were in the Catskills, not the Hudson Valley.
And thanks for the opening paragraph. I was touched by it, by your perceptive and empathetic voice. Ty
