Your tamales sent me into a reverie about the bean burritos, smothered in fragrant, roasted green chile sauce, which could be had at the Pojoaque Truck Stop. Alas, that meagre crossroads is now resplendent with garish casinos that insult the landscape.
By coincidence, I have been working on a passage in my novel in which the protagonist is taken on a scenic route. Here is a draft:
Oh wow, just finished reading your draft. I don’t think I have your email address to talk more about it but I love it!!! I almost wonder if it’s begging to be a film script, the way it drops you into the action and gets the wheels in motion? Just a thought. I was so tense when Billy scored & Wyatt didn’t that I had to put it down for a bit! Ugh! I felt so bad for him. That’s great writing though.
So sorry to hear about the replacement -- I now know that almost nothing could possibly be better than a taco or tamale stand. Looking forward to reading your draft. 💗
I never thought of tamales as a perfect road food, like the Road Nanner, but they do come wrapped, and you can squeeze them like a kid's yogurt packet... if you are ever near Natchez, check out The Donut Shop. They also sell excellent tamales. Sarah and I stopped there on our way up to north Louisiana once and I wish I had more reasons to go that way.

As someone who made a uturn to buy tamales off the side of the road in Las Vegas yesterday I totally get it. The best tamales are random.
Oh my goodness I had no idea how good tamales could be. My tamal toasts your tamal.
Happy New year! Enjoy your desert tea!
Thanks, enjoy your Hurricanes!
Happy new year! I had tamales bought out of a kitchen window in east L.A. and they are worth the travel plans.
I ate one driving down the road & almost had to pull over. It was almost religious -- I had no idea.
