You did it! That's a great bike and a great story. And a beautiful starling, I've never seen them iridescent green like that. We've got a sandalwood one who hogs the feeder.

If you want to go riding in a DC park sometime I'll come down with the Taint Hammer!

Thanks! I don’t know what the Blue Noodler would make of the Taint Hammer but I think trying to take a ride together would probably be very funny! We’ll have to give it a go sometime when you can race ahead and I can toodle along to a cafe & read & wait for you to finish a ten mile course or something.

The good thing about a fat bike is that it's okay on paved park roads. I can even jump some curbs. So I meant a leisurely ride in the park! Though I did sign up for a race this Sunday. It's for charity, and I'm in the slowest category.

Thanks Janet! I was thinking of you and those biking vacations -- whew! Even more impressive the more I bike!

And Happy Fourth to you, Hannah! What a delightful story with ironic self-deprecations and lovely un-ironic descriptions of your in-town adventures.

Johnny and I are curious: How are you going to get your bike to Burning Man?

Teddy & his crew are gonna take it out (along with a bunch of other stuff) when they go out a few weeks before Burning Man starts, as part of the build. I don’t think Teddy has a bike so he can use this one before I get there ... I’m gonna be curious about him riding a girl’s cruiser out in the desert. 😁 (for more on all of this, read the alebrijes post from a few weeks ago)

Just lovely, Hannah. I love your voice and, of course, your eye. I 'felt' DC without having to brave the beltway.

Thank you,

ann

& congrats on that handsome bike!
