Hummingbirds are magical, no? If Cardinals are emissaries from the spirit world, hummingbirds are burning embers of life...
You know where I was last week. This weekend I went on a bike ride to a forest that burned and was quenched by the rain that flooded my tent. Them I played with my niece and nephew on Sunday. The first and those children had the spirit of a hummingbird, so full of life. I'm a blue footed booby trying to keep up.
Oooh, I love blue footed boobies! Maybe better than hummingbirds. I just recently re-read Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle, and he gives such a terrific description of their awkward little dances -- it seems like they’re saying to each other “oh, you have a blue foot? Well, you wouldn’t believe it, but I have a blue foot too.” And so on.
They are the second to last bird in Around the World in 80 Birds, which I just finished reading. I'd love to see some one day, but not on Galapagos. I think to many of us visit. I need to read Cat's Cradle. I've only read a handful of Vonnegut and I usually like his books.
Your observations about the multiple identities is very interesting.
Thanks! 💗

Oh, and what did you think about Around the World in 80 Birds?
I liked it a lot! Also the Trees volume in the series. I'm ordering Around the World in 80 Plants next...
I agree completely about the Galapagos. And I think you’d like Cat’s Cradle? Let me know if you give it a read.
It'll be a while. I've got a big TBR stack. Let me see if my library has it.
