Wait, are y’all getting a button that says “upgrade to paid” these days on my posts? If that happened, I’m so sorry. That’s the opposite of the vibe I’m going for here.
Earlier today, I used an unfamiliar computer to check the “Half a Banana Snot Brain” post and it seemed like the “Subscribe” button got changed to “Upgrade to Paid”.
Don’t get me wrong, I love readers & subscribers, please c’mon in and hang out, but there should never be any pressure to "upgrade” to a paying subscription. There is no upgrade, for one thing. If you feel like supporting me and my writing by financially contributing, that’s wonderful and I deeply appreciate it, but access is the same. If you’re seeing “Upgrade to Paid”, please let me know in the comments.
As an apology here’s some holiday week fun things I’ll (probably) never write a full post about.
Two sea star species have been breeding together, making a new species that may be able to tolerate a wider range of temperatures.
Dubbed “sister species” by scientists, a new study has shown that A. rubens and A. forbesi have been crossbreeding to produce hybrid sea stars, making their nickname perhaps a tad regrettable.
Here’s a guy who walks around his neighborhood and picks up cats, making this a pick-up pick-me-up.
And a few weeks ago, the good folks over at Spoon & Tomago shared the wonderful Japanese tradition of mundane Halloween costumes. My favorites this year were “Person who was late for work but got issued a late pass at the train station and is now feeling more at ease (photo via @dailyportalz).”
And, “Person trying to go viral with their cat on a roomba (photo via @dailyportalz)”
Thanks, and have a great week y’all.
I saw that Upgrade button. I like the cat guy.
